NVP Promotes Investment and Portfolio Services Professionals

As NVP continues to grow as a global growth equity and venture capital firm, we recognize individuals who have contributed significantly to NVP and added strategic value to our portfolio companies over the years.

As a part of this recognition, today we’re pleased to announce the promotions of Dror Nahumi to General Partner, Shiv Chaudhary to Vice President, Edward Yip to Senior Associate and Katie Belding to Marketing and Portfolio Services Partner.

We are delighted to recognize these professionals’ achievements and look forward to their continued contributions to NVP.

Dror, who joined us in September 2008, has been a valuable contributor to our firm and has done an excellent job building our presence in Israel over the past several years.

Dror has more than 20 years of operational, technology and entrepreneurial experience, having worked extensively in both the U.S. and in Israel in various senior positions at leading global organizations.

Dror recently generated a very successful exit for NVP with the sale of ScaleIO to EMC.  It was a significant return for the firm in a very short period of time.

Dror has invested in and serves on the boards of Pontis, Seculert, SolarEdge and SundaySky. Dror has served as a board member of Veraz Networks since 2004, and is a board observer for ConteXtream. Dror was a previous board participant for ScaleiO (acquired by EMC) and Unisfair (acquired by InterCall). At NVP, Dror focuses on investments in Israel.

Dror has years of experience in business development and telecommunications technology leadership in both the U.S. and Israel. Prior to joining NVP, Dror served as executive vice president and Chief Strategy Officer of ECI, which he joined in 2004. In this role, he was responsible for ECI’s strategy, mergers and acquisitions, business development and strategic marketing.

Before joining ECI, Dror was CEO of Axonlink, an optical components start-up company. Prior to Axonlink, he was President of I-Link, a US-based VoIP service provider which acquired MiBridge, the VoIP software company he founded.

Dror was also a senior research engineer at AT&T Bell Labs where he developed voice and video compression technologies, including the speech coder that is now the standard for CDMA cellular in North America.

Dror holds a BSc in electrical engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa.

Shiv Chaudhary of NVP India was recently promoted to Vice President. Shiv joined NVP India in August of 2009, and brings eight years of private equity, finance and investment banking experience to our firm. Based in NVP India’s Mumbai office, Shiv serves as an advisor on growth equity investments in Indian companies across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, media & technology, financial services and consumer. He has been instrumental in many of the investments in our firm’s current India portfolio such as Snowman Logistics, Thyrocare, Ratnakar Bank, Indusind Bank and Pepperfry.com.

Before joining NVP India in 2009, Shiv worked at Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division where he specialized in M&A and corporate advisory work for a variety of companies in the financial services, healthcare, infrastructure, media, real estate and consumer sectors. During his tenure at Morgan Stanley, he worked on India focused transactions in the company’s Mumbai office, and also worked in the Financial Institutions Group in Morgan Stanley’s London and New York offices. In this role, Shiv worked on mergers and acquisitions, public and private buy-side and sell-side transactions, and equity transactions for clients across the world.

Prior to Morgan Stanley, Shiv held positions at Black Arrow Capital Management, LLC, a global equity long-short Asia focused hedge fund, Franklin Templeton Investments and Prudential ICICI Asset Management Company.

Shiv obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Oberlin College.



Ed Yip - Norwest Venture Partners


Ed has been an outstanding contributor to NVP and the consumer Internet team over the past two years.  Ed has worked closely with the team to help manage and cultivate our existing portfolio companies and source new opportunities. In particular, Ed’s hard work, due diligence and value add on ModCloth, The Echo Nest, and two additional stealth Consumer Internet companies, have been invaluable.

Ed focuses on early to late stage venture investments across a wide range of sectors at NVP, with an emphasis on consumer Internet.

Most recently, Ed was co-founder and COO of Spree Network Inc., a San Francisco-based internet collective-purchasing company.  Prior to Spree Network, Ed spent four years with the Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory Group at Evercore Partners in New York and London.  In this role, Ed executed and analyzed mergers and acquisitions, divestitures and leveraged buyout opportunities in technology, media and telecom sectors.

Ed obtained bachelor of arts degrees in both economics and environmental studies from Dartmouth College.

Katie has grown and scaled with NVP as we’ve significantly expanded our firm by stage, sector and geography.  Marketing has played a key role in adding value to our portfolio companies as well as building awareness for NVP globally for more than a decade. The business development opportunities and networking activities NVP has executed, the awareness we’ve generated for our companies and our ongoing commitment to serving as a value added business partner to our entrepreneurs has always been an important part of NVP’s culture.

Continuing to invest in NVP’s portfolio services is a significant part of our strategy. In addition to marketing, Katie will play a more proactive role in augmenting these services. We will continue to grow our staff in marketing, recruiting and other key areas to deliver the level of service that our portfolio companies require.

Katie joined NVP in 2001 and she has more than 18 years of technology and venture capital marketing and communications experience. She is responsible for the firm’s global marketing efforts. In this role, she advises NVP’s early, mid and growth-stage portfolio companies on their marketing and communications strategies, and assists them with marketing resources and execution.

Before joining NVP, Katie was director of corporate communications at Calico Commerce, Inc., an e-commerce software company, where she was responsible for public relations, investor relations and customer relations. Earlier, Katie was an account supervisor at the Horn Group, a San Francisco-based public relations consultancy, where she developed and managed corporate public relations programs for such companies as Calico Commerce, Norwest Venture Partners, Commerce One, the Chasm Group, Eloquent, McKinsey & Company’s electronic commerce practice and Visigenic Software (acquired by Borland). Previously she worked in the Ketchum Public Relations Technology Group in San Francisco, where her clients included Hewlett Packard, Federal Express and Genentech.

Katie holds a bachelor of science in journalism with a concentration in public relations from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
