Matt brings more than 21 years of experience in financial management to his role as partner and chief financial officer, where he oversees Norwest’s global financial operations.

Before joining Norwest, Matt was chief financial officer at Watershed Asset Management, an SEC registered investment adviser. At Watershed, Matt was responsible for the diverse business operations of the firm, managing over $1 billion across multiple hedge funds. Prior to that, he was fund controller at Highland Capital Partners, where he was part of a team responsible for the finance function for multiple venture capital and private equity funds. Matt previously held positions at Sowood Capital Management, Liberty Mutual Group, and Ernst & Young.

Matt holds a BBA with a major in accounting from the Mendoza College of Business Administration at the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Matt is a certified public accountant.

Dawn brings more than 20 years of tax experience to Norwest Venture Partners, including significant experience with both state and federal income taxes. As part of the portfolio services team, Dawn is responsible for all tax related efforts including tax planning (domestic and foreign), income tax filings, submissions, and transfer pricing. In addition, Dawn is responsible for Norwest’s regulatory compliance, including SOX compliance and internal controls and testing.

Before joining Norwest, Dawn spent more than half her career working in public accounting, most recently as a senior tax manager working with venture capital and private equity funds. Dawn also spent time working for a Fortune 500 company handling tax planning and controversy. Dawn has a wide breadth of experience covering general corporate tax, partnership tax, foreign reporting, tax controversy, and mergers and acquisitions.

Dawn received a J.D. from the University Of Illinois School Of Law in 1991. She received a bachelor of business administration from Loyola University of Chicago, with an emphasis in accounting. Dawn is a member of the State Bar of Illinois.

Kurt has more than 30 years of experience in financial management. As Norwest’s administrative partner, Kurt oversees the operations functions of the firm.

Before joining Norwest, Kurt was vice president and chief financial officer at Information Advantage, a publicly-traded Norwest portfolio company in the enterprise software market. Earlier, he was senior vice president and CFO at ValueRx, a pharmaceutical managed care company with $2 billion in revenue, and he held executive finance positions at several other public companies, including Cowles Media Company, EBP HealthPlans, and CPC, an online information services company. He began his career at Deloitte & Touche.

Kurt, a CPA, holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, with a major in accounting.

Bill brings more than 20 years of legal experience to Norwest Venture Partners. As a partner and general counsel, Bill works closely with Norwest investment professionals, co-investors, board members, and portfolio company founders and CEOs on a wide variety of legal activities across Norwest’s global fund. In this role, Bill is responsible for deal structuring, advising Norwest partners on portfolio legal issues, advising Norwest portfolio companies on transactions and negotiations, fund structuring and administration, and regulatory compliance across multiple geographies.

Prior to Norwest, Bill was a Partner in the business and finance group of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, where he was involved with mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity financings, and public company financings. He represented private investment firms and public companies in acquisitions, tender offers, joint ventures, leveraged buyouts, and cross-border transactions.

Previously, Bill was a Partner in the business and technology group of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP, where he represented public companies in mergers and acquisitions of public and privately-held companies. In this role, he also represented private equity firms and emerging growth companies in corporate finance transactions.

Bill received a J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Annual Survey of American Law. He received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Pennsylvania State University. Bill is a member of the State Bar of California, New York, and Connecticut.
